I.N.D.I.A. Bloc Likely to Field Joint Candidate for Vice Presidential Polls Following Jagdeep Dhankhar’s Resignation

New Delhi : Following the unexpected resignation of Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, the opposition I.N.D.I.A. bloc is likely to contest the upcoming vice presidential elections with a jointly agreed candidate, according to sources within the alliance.

Discussions are reportedly underway among key leaders of the alliance to arrive at a consensus on a common nominee. While no names have been officially disclosed yet, insiders suggest that the decision will be strategic and symbolic, aimed at sending a strong political message even if the bloc falls short of securing the required numbers.

The vice presidential election is conducted by an electoral college consisting of members from both the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha. A candidate needs to secure at least 392 out of 782 total votes to win the post.

Though the ruling NDA currently enjoys a numerical advantage in Parliament, several opposition leaders believe that participating in the election will reflect unity among I.N.D.I.A. bloc constituents and demonstrate their commitment to democratic processes.

An official announcement from the bloc is expected soon, pending final consultations among senior leaders.
