MP Capt. Viriato Fernandes Pays Tributes to Kargil Martyrs at Azad Maidan
Panjim : On the solemn occasion of Kargil Vijay Diwas, Member of Parliament Capt. Viriato Fernandes paid heartfelt floral tributes to the brave martyrs of the Kargil War at a commemorative function held at Azad Maidan, Panjim. The event was organized by the Ex-NCC Cadets Association, Goa, to honour the supreme sacrifice of the nation’s heroes.
The ceremony witnessed the presence of several distinguished retired defence personnel, including Air Marshal Sandesh Wagle (Retd.), Brigadier Kiran Kumar Thacker (Retd.), Brigadier Anil Pereira (Retd.), and Colonel Balkrishna Shirodkar (Retd.). Retired DIG Shri Bosco George, renowned Indian Navy musician Shri Roy Menezes, Shri Pradeep Sawant, and Shri John Aguiar also attended the tribute ceremony.
Also present were serving Army Jawans, Ex-NCC cadets, Civil Defence volunteers, and current NCC cadets, who joined in paying homage to the fallen soldiers. The event was marked by patriotic fervour, military salutes, and a spirit of remembrance and gratitude towards the Kargil war heroes.
