Chief Minister inaugurated the screening of premiere of Konkani short film ”Kalkhi Vaat”

Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant along with Minister for Social Welfare Shri Subhash Phaldesai inaugurated the screening of premiere of Konkani short film ”Kalkhi Vaat,, on the ocassion of International Day against Drugs at Maquinez Palace at Campal Panaji today.

The film produced by Smt Jyoti Kuncolienkar which has been jointly financed by Ministry of Social Justice Government of India and Directorate of Social Welfare Goa

The Chief Minister while addressing said that a wrong message being spread across the country about Goa showing to drug link which he said is absolutely wrong. The Government strives to make Goa drug free. Through anti narcotic cell the Government has booked to those indulging in this malpractices and the stock of drug worth crores of rupees which was seized has been destroyed. We are working to arrest drug trafficking in Goa which has ruined lives of our youth.He appealed to the drug addicts to come to rehabilitation center where they would be freed from drugs addiction. He hoped that the film will be watched by the people and will get a huge success . The Chief Minister also appreciated to those who have worked hard to produce the film. He appealed to the youth to keep themselves away away from drug menace.

Minister for Social Werlfare Shri Subhash Phaldesai stressed the need to work together to eliminate drug abuse, illicit trafficking of drug and save our youth. We should not allow the talent, creativity, and excellence of our youth to go waste. The need of the hour he said is to lay stress on information campaign to create awareness and hoped that the parents and children will watch this film together to get themselves acquainted with the ill effects of drugs .We will screen this film in all schools and colleges in the state to educate our youth about how drug spoil our lives. Those who fall prey to drugs need to go to the rehabilitation center where they will be treated and rehabilitated and freed from drug addiction he added.

The Producer of the film Mrs Jyoti Kuncolienkar highlighted the purpose behind producing the film. This film has been produced keeping in mind our young generation. We have to keep our children away from drugs. She hoped that the parents will come to know how children are getting inflicted with the consumption of drugs. She further hoped that the film would fulfil the purpose by educating our youth to be away from drugs.

The Director of Social Welfare Shri Ajit Panchwadkar in his welcome address. stated that the Government has initiated various measures to curb the menace of drug in Goa. These measures which have been undertaken by the Government are nothing but a movement aimed to spread awareness in our society and to bring much needed awareness among the people . The film will help our youth to learn about bad effects of drug and how it spoils lives.

The film Director Shirish Rane, Film Producer, Smt Jyoti Cuncolienkar, Film crew, Asst. Director Ms Juilee Parag Parkhi, Cinematographer Shri Avinash Lohar Mr. Maurya Chari, Dr. Paul Fernandes, Dr. Rupa Chari, Mohan Chandelkar, Shri Ajit Kamat and others were honoured at the hands of Chief Minister..

Secretary Social Welfare Shri E. Vallavan L. A. S, Under Secretary Government of India Shri George, Asst Director Smt. Nutan Dicholkar,and Film Crew were present at the function.A pledge Nasha Mukt Bharat was administered on the ocassion
