Development of Candolim- Nerul bandh is possible through eco-friendly tourism:MLA Michael Lobo
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo said it is possible to develop the scenic bundh located on the banks of the river in candolim Nerul as a tourism center and there is a need for co-operation from the State Tourism Department in this regard.,
Lobo was speaking to the local media after inspecting the bundh on Thursday morning.
On this occasion Sarpanch of Candolim Blaise Fernandes, ,and other members of Panchayat, WRD and local farmers were present in large numbers.
Meanwhile, due to the complete destruction of the bundh during the construction of the bridge over the river at Nerul, for the past twenty-eight years, the water of the mandovi river was entering the fields in front of it and causing loss of lakhs of rupees to the local farmers. Therefore, with the help of the local panchayat and the WRD department , a protective wall will be constructed parallel to the bundh at a cost of about 4 crore rupees. Various types of trees and medicinal trees were also planted in the area on behalf of the panchayat.
Speaking after inspecting the site , MLA Lobo informed that in order to repair the bundh to promote tourism activities it is necessary that funds need to be approved for the beautification along with the completion of the work of the protective wall .
MLA Lobo appealed to the candolim Panchayat to take the initiative and hold a face-to-face discussion as a complaint has been filed before the National Green Tribunal due to a misunderstanding between the panchayat at the Calangute constituency Forum.
