FDA Cracks Down on Substandard Cashew Sellers in Calangute.
Calangute: In a surprise raid, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sealed three shops in Calangute for selling substandard cashews. The raid was conducted after samples of cashews from these shops failed quality tests.
The three shops, M/s Dwarkadish Cashew owned by Parveen Bishnoi, Gujaratee Cashew owned by Sohan Lal, and Shree Ram Enterprises owned by Avinash Powar, were found selling inferior quality cashews.
Based on the findings, the FDA officials directed the shop owners to stop operations immediately and sealed the premises. Further legal action will be taken against the shop owners.
The raid was conducted under the guidance of FDA Director Shweta Desai and was carried out by officials Richard Noronha, Senior Food Safety Officer Rajaram Patil, Bhakti Walke, Pradiksha Chopdekar, and others.
This action aims to ensure that only quality products are sold to consumers and to curb the sale of substandard food items in the market.
