PARTIES MEET ECI TO SHARE SUGGESTIONS, CONCERNS
Nationwide Consultation Aims to Strengthen Electoral Process
New Delhi : The Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi, recently held a consultative meeting with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by its National Convener Shri Arvind Kejriwal, at Nirvachan Sadan. This meeting is part of a series of ongoing interactions initiated by the Election Commission of India (ECI) with leaders of various national and state political parties.
Earlier, the Commission met delegations from key political parties including the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), led by President Km. Mayawati on May 6; the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), led by President Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda on May 8; the Communist Party of India (Marxist), represented by General Secretary Shri M.A. Baby on May 10; and the National People’s Party (NPP), led by President Shri Conrad Sangma on May 13.
These interactions serve as a platform for constructive dialogue, allowing party leaders to directly present their suggestions and concerns to the Commission. The initiative is seen as a step towards enhancing the transparency and effectiveness of the electoral process, in line with the ECI’s commitment to inclusive and participatory democracy.
As part of its outreach efforts, the ECI has already facilitated 4,719 all-party meetings across the country. These include 40 meetings conducted by Chief Electoral Officers (CEOs), 800 by District Electoral Officers (DEOs), and 3,879 by Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), involving over 28,000 representatives of various political parties.
The Commission reaffirmed its vision of reinforcing India’s electoral system through collaboration with all stakeholders, ensuring that the electoral process remains robust, transparent, and responsive to the evolving democratic landscape.
