Traffic Diversion Announced in Ponda for ‘Sanatan Rashtra Shankhnad Mahotsav’
Panaji | In view of the upcoming ‘Sanatan Rashtra Shankhnad Mahotsav’ to be held at GEC Ground, Farmagudi, the South Goa Collector and District Magistrate has issued a traffic advisory with several temporary diversions, restrictions, and no-parking zones from May 17 to May 19, 2025. The notification remains effective until May 21, 2025.
As per the notification:
One-Way Traffic: The road stretch from PES Circle towards GEC Ground and onward to Veling and Mardol will function as a one-way route. Vehicles will not be allowed to travel from Veling side towards GEC Farmagudi, except local residents residing along the route.
No Parking Zones:
Along NH-748 from Borim Circle to GEC Farmagudi via Dhavli Bypass
From Banastarim Bridge to PES Circle – Farmagudi
From PES Circle to GEC Main Gate (function venue)
Heavy Vehicle Restrictions:
Movement of heavy vehicles will be restricted during the following hours:
6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.
7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Affected routes include:
Veling–Mardol to GEC Farmagudi (internal road)
Borim Tolnak to Ponda (holding area: SH-5 from Tonaka towards Raia)
Baithakhol to Dhavli/Ponda (holding area: Baithakhol–Amigos road)
Banastarim to GEC Ponda side (NH-748) (holding area: Banastarim)
BCP Pollem to Margao–Ponda (holding area: Dapot Mahem)
Authorities have urged motorists to follow traffic regulations and cooperate with the arrangements to ensure smooth conduct of the event and public safety.
