Monsoon Session of Goa Assembly to Begin from July 22; State Cabinet Approves Heritage Policy
Panaji: The upcoming monsoon session of the Goa Legislative Assembly is set to commence on July 22, during which key state issues, policies, and development projects are expected to be discussed. Although the session is scheduled for a limited number of days, it will focus on passing important bills and making crucial administrative decisions, informed Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant during a press conference following the state cabinet meeting.
The Chief Minister announced that the “Goa State Heritage Policy” has received final approval from the cabinet. The policy aims to preserve and promote Goa’s rich cultural and architectural heritage, including historical structures, temples, churches, traditional buildings, and other elements of Goan legacy. The implementation of this policy is expected to strengthen efforts to protect and maintain the state’s unique architectural identity.
Work Order Issued for ‘Unity Mall’ at Chimbel
A work order has been issued for the construction of the state’s ambitious ‘Unity Mall’ project at Chimbel. The mall will showcase local Goan products, handicrafts, and tourism-related information, providing a platform for local artisans and producers. It is also expected to become a major attraction for tourists visiting the state.
Mobile Towers to Improve Connectivity in Remote Areas
To enhance network connectivity in remote and rural areas, the government has approved the transfer of 200 sq. meters of government land at Vagheri (Sattari) for the installation of a mobile tower. Additionally, government land in Sanguem taluka has also been approved for similar infrastructure. These initiatives aim to improve digital connectivity in rural regions, thereby supporting better access to education, healthcare, and other digital services.
