India, US to Sign New 10-Year Defence Framework by Year-End

India and the United States have agreed to finalise and sign a new 10-year Defence Framework Agreement by the end of 2025, according to US Senior Defence Spokesperson Colonel Chris Devine. This decision was taken during a phone conversation between US Secretary of Defence Pete Hegseth and Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on July 1.

In a post on X, Singh stated that the discussion focused on deepening the defence partnership, capacity building, and counterterrorism cooperation. Hegseth reiterated the US’s commitment to India as its key defence partner in South Asia.

The leaders reviewed progress since the February 2025 joint statement by President Trump and Prime Minister Modi. They discussed major US defence sales, industrial cooperation, and joint military initiatives.

India’s Ministry of Defence confirmed that talks also covered long-term defence ties, interoperability, logistics sharing, training exchanges, and collaboration with like-minded partners. Both nations committed to strengthening this critical strategic partnership.
