An attempt to construct a building by submerging the pond at Candolim alleges Calangute constituency forum members have warned to go to court if the order is not reversed
The traditional pond located -Souawada has been repaired by adding soil, the Panchayat should immediately remove the mud from the site and restore it within 10 days, otherwise we will have to go to court President of Calangute Forum Premanand Divkar has warned.
There are two ponds in Souzavaddo where The authorities tried to put soil inside the pond candolim Panchayat Sarpanch Blaise Fernandes stopped the work along with the police. Former sarpanch Fermino Fernandes claimed that no permission was taken for construction.
According to President of CCF Premanand Divkar, water is stored through small and big drains. Farmers use that water for their rice. Many farmers are not even able to go to the fields
The Biodiversity Committee of the Panchayat needs to take responsibility for the conservation of the pond. But some members of this committee are working against the law. Therefore, this committee needs to be changed immediately. Sushant Lotlikar, a local farmer, also expressed his anger at the way the pond was being used

Farmer Vishwas Toraskar has demanded that the panchayat should immediately remove the soil and restore the pond to it’s original state .
