The sudden rise in prices of chicken and egg.
MAPUSA: Chicken and Eggs selling for all time high in the markets of state on May 23 and this prices will remain static for a week or so.
The prices of row Chicken in the Panaji Municipal Market is climbing up steadily.
The reason is prevailing fish and vegetable prices, stated some while others revealed to forthcoming monsoon and still others believe that it is being imported at a high price from neighbouring states of Maharashtra, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh.
The sudden rise in prices of chicken and its product is due to non availability in Goa and everything is being imported and nothing is from Goa neither chicken nor eggs.
The proprietor of Apollo Eggs Centre in the market informed that although prices have been increased by the wholesalers but the margin of profit is very very less and we are doing the business to keep the business moving.

He sells chicken broilers for Rs 190 a kg while eggs 650 for 100.
While JB Foods in PMC market selling desi chicken for Rs 300 a kg.
While chicken retailer/ seller stated that due to prevailing high fish and vegetable prices.
Some said the prices will not come down but instead will climb up in the couple weeks in future.
The reason, they quoted is that feed prices have gone up and now monsoon approaching very fast in the prices of vegetable and fish touch all time high.
While Royal Foods sell sell 100 eggs for Rs 650, 50 eggs for Rs 325, 30 for Rs 195, a dozen for Rs 78 and 6 eggs sold for 39 on May 23.
