Ferreira seeks solution to recurring power cuts in Aldona, meets minister.

Aldona With Aldona constituency witnessing frequent power fluctuations, local MLA Adv Carlos Alvares Ferreira on Friday met Power Minister Ramkrishna ‘Sudin’ Dhavalikar to apprise him of these grievances and concerns, and sought rectification of the problems on priority.

He was accompanied by a group of locals and panchayat members of the constituency.

“We came to meet Minister Sudin Dhavalikar as there are frequent power fluctuations in our constituency. The power cuts have been occurring despite taking up pre-monsoon maintenance works. Our people are fed up as there are regular outages nearly 5 times a day for prolonged hours. Yesterday there was a power failure and till Friday afternoon supply was not restored. People cannot endure this. They can’t use their fridges, they can’t work. We have apprised him of these problems,” he said.

Ferreira also urged the power department to provide an additional vehicle with staff to address power-related problems.

“There is a staff shortage at the local division, we have submitted a representation to him in this regard. There is also a need for another vehicle. One vehicle and two people cannot cater to the problems in the entire constituency. The minister has assured us that he will provide us with one more vehicle with more staff. We also told him to restore the dug roads,” he said.

The MLA urged the department to deploy more staff at the Gavar substation.

“We spoke about the problems in Bastora. The Guirim feeder fails repeatedly.

The department has acknowledged this problem and I have suggested that the Guirim feeder should be shifted to the Bastora feeder. At least there will be less problems. We have also urged the department to station staff at the Gavar sub-division as this becomes easier for them to attend to problems in the vicinity. Often staff from the Nagoa substation have to come here which takes them nearly 25 minutes. So when the staff are stationed at Gavar they will come faster,” he pointed out.
