District Collector and District Magistrate, North Goa District prohibits swimming in Waterfalls, abandoned quarries, lakes, Rivers and other water bodies until further orders.
On a day when two individuals lost their lives while swimming in water bodies, both the North and South Goa district magistrates issued orders prohibiting swimming in waterfalls, abandoned quarries, rivers, lakes and other water bodies in the state.

The order, issued under Section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code, came into effect on Sunday and will remain in force for 60 days unless withdrawn earlier.
“There have been incidents of drowning in the past at waterfalls, abandoned quarries, rivers, lakes and other water bodies and as such swimming in these waters poses dangerous risk to the life of people,” said the order.
