Calangute constituency has lodged a complaint with concerned authorities against Land filling of Agriculture land in a property bearing survey Nos.344/1,2,3,4,5.6.7 and 343/1,23,346/1 of Village Calangute at Agharvaddo,
In the complaint the forum has pointed out that this land is being filled for the purposed of development and road access. As a responsible NGO of calangute we are deeply concerned about the negative impact of this land filling will have on our local environment and agricultural productivity
“Agricultural land is vital for food production and so it is important for maintaining the biodiversity and sustaining the livelihoods of many in our community” said President of the Forum Prem Divkar
Speaking further he said that the conversion of this land for the development purposes not only threatens these critical functions but also disregards the long term environment consequences
We trust that the competent authorities will take our concerns seriously and take the necessary actions to address this issue on top priority” Divkar further said
