PORVORIM: The power tariff has been increased three times in the last five years, Power minister told the Goa Assembly on monday .
power minister was Replying to a question tabled by Aldona MLA Adv Carlos Fereira during question hour , Power Minister Sudin Dhavalikar said, the tariff was increased in 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25.
“The Government has been providing budgetary support to the department every fiscal year for the past many years so that the overall revenue gap determined by the regulator is not passed on to the consumer in the form of tariff hikes,” he said.
Hence he said the power tariff was necessary as per JERC directions.
The reply says that each installation is allotted a category according to the usage for which the connection is applied by the consumer and as per the applicability of the Tariff schedule decided by Hon’ble JERC. The consumer is billed according to the tariff determined by the Hon’ble JERC for its category.
