Concerned Citizens of Goa Urge Chief Secretary to Reconsider Service Extension Decisions
Panjim : A group of concerned citizens, including social workers Dipesh Naik, Shankar Polji, and Sanjay Barde, have written to the Chief Secretary of Goa, urging the state government to reverse its decision on granting service extensions to retired government officials.
In their letter, the citizens argue that such extensions violate public policy by blocking the promotion of competent and eligible individuals. They claim that this practice deprives young and deserving government employees of career advancement opportunities.

The letter stresses that extending the tenure of retired officers instead of appointing, recruiting, or promoting qualified individuals is unfair and detrimental to the efficiency of government administration. The signatories also raised concerns that some officers receiving extensions may be benefiting from favoritism and alleged corruption.
This issue has sparked debate over the government’s approach to promotions and appointments, with calls for greater transparency and accountability in the system. The concerned citizens have urged the Chief Secretary to ensure that deserving candidates are given their due opportunities rather than extending the service of officials who have reached superannuation.
