Stampede at New Delhi Railway Station; 18 Dead
A major stampede at New Delhi Railway Station on Saturday night led to the tragic death of 18 people, including three children. The crowd started increasing after 8 PM, but the railway administration failed to take timely measures. As a result, a massive stampede occurred around 9 PM at platform number 14.
For the past few days, special trains were being run for Prayagraj, leading to a significant rise in the number of passengers. However, the railway administration failed to manage the crowd. According to eyewitnesses, the lack of proper passenger screening allowed many ticketless travelers onto the platform, worsening the situation.
Following the incident, additional RPF and Delhi Police personnel were deployed at the station. However, many are questioning whether these lives could have been saved if such measures had been taken earlier.
