CALANGUTE CELEBRATES 61ST DEV BABRESHWAR JATRA WITH FANFARE

Calangute : The 61st Dev Babreshwar Jatra, popularly known as the Banana Festival, kicked off in Calangute yesterday, amidst great fanfare and enthusiasm.

The festival, which is a significant event in the local calendar, is dedicated to Lord Babreshwar, the patron deity of the village. The festivities began with a traditional procession, where devotees carried intricately decorated palanquins and offered prayers to the deity.

The highlight of the festival is the distribution of bananas, which is believed to bring good luck and prosperity. Thousands of devotees gathered at the festival grounds to receive the sacred fruit, which was distributed by the temple authorities.

The festival also features a range of cultural and entertainment programs, including traditional folk dances, music performances, and stalls selling local handicrafts and delicacies.

“We are thrilled to celebrate the 61st Dev Babreshwar Jatra, which is a testament to the rich cultural heritage of our village,” said chandrakant Chodenkar President of the Dev Babreshwar Temple Committee. “We invite everyone to join us in this joyous celebration and seek the blessings of Lord Babreshwar.”

The festival will continue for the next three days, with a range of activities and events planned for devotees and visitors alike.
