GOVERNOR BEGINS “KHUSHAL KALYAN YATRA” WITH VISITS TO HOLY PLACES IN SOUTH GOA

Seeks Divine Blessings for Peace and Prosperity in Goa and the Nation

South Goa : Governor of Goa, Shri P. S. Sreedharan Pillai, commenced his latest outreach initiative, the “Khushal Kalyan Yatra,” with visits to multiple revered places of worship across South Goa today. The yatra is aimed at invoking divine blessings for the peace, prosperity, and overall welfare of the people of Goa and the nation at large.

The Governor began his yatra at the Shree Anant Padmanabh Temple in Savoi Verem, where he was warmly welcomed by the President of the Devasthan Samiti, Shri Rahul Shet Verekar, along with Shri Sudin Shet Verenkar, Shri Suhas Shet Verenkar, Shri Sadanand Shet Verenkar, Sarpanch Smt. Shobha Perani, and other dignitaries. As a gesture of support, the Governor presented a cheque of Rs. 50,000 to the temple committee. He was felicitated with a traditional shawl, sreefal, and a memento.

Continuing his spiritual journey, the Governor visited the Shree Mahalasa Narayani Temple at Mardol, where he and the First Lady of Goa, Smt. Rita Sreedharan Pillai, offered prayers. The Governor was welcomed by Minister for Art and Culture, Shri Govind Gaude, and temple President Shri Premanand Kamat, along with other trustees and devotees.

At the Shree Nageshi Temple, the Governor and the First Lady again offered prayers and were felicitated by the temple committee. The Governor was received by President Shri Sanjay Shenvi Priolkar. Former Chief Minister Shri Digambar Kamat was also present on the occasion.

A significant stop in the yatra was the Rachol Seminary, where Swami Vivekananda had once spent three days. The Governor was received by Fr. Donato Rodrigues and other seminary officials. MLA Shri Alexio Reginald Lourenco also marked his presence. On behalf of the Raj Bhavan, the Governor donated Rs. 1 lakh to the Seminary and interacted with its leadership.

The day’s yatra concluded with visits to Shree Shantadurga Kunkalikarin Devasthan, Shree Shantadurga Fatarpekarin Devasthan, and Shree Saptakoteshwar Temple in Fatorpa.

Since taking charge in 2021, Governor Sreedharan Pillai has launched several outreach yatras including the Goa Gram Sampurna Yatra, Saimik Daiz Yatra, Dweep Parichay Yatra, and Goa Giriarohan Yatra, aimed at connecting with the people and promoting communal harmony. The new “Khushal Kalyan Yatra” is yet another step in this direction, especially in light of recent challenging events both in Goa and nationally.
