Indira Gandhi International Airport Issues Travel Advisory Amid Escalating Iran-Israel Conflict

New Delhi : The Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGIA) on Friday issued a travel advisory for passengers flying to Iran and Iraq, amid rising tensions in the Middle East following Israeli strikes on key Iranian military and nuclear sites.

In a statement, the IGIA clarified that operations at Delhi airport continue to run smoothly. However, the advisory highlighted that evolving airspace conditions over Iran, Iraq, and surrounding regions have led to disruptions in some international flight schedules.

“Passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines for the latest updates regarding their flights. We strongly urge all passengers to rely only on official sources for accurate and up-to-date information,” the statement read.

The advisory follows confirmation from Israel that it has launched what it describes as the first phase of a prolonged operation aimed at targeting Iran’s nuclear infrastructure, missile facilities, and high-ranking military officials. The situation has resulted in growing uncertainty and partial closure of Iranian airspace.

Air India has responded to the crisis by altering the flight paths of several scheduled services. In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the national carrier said:

“Due to the emerging situation in Iran, the subsequent closure of its airspace, and in view of the safety of our passengers, the following 16 Air India flights are either being diverted or returning to their origin.”

Air India added that it is offering full refunds, complimentary rescheduling options, and necessary accommodations for affected passengers to minimize inconvenience.

Meanwhile, the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv has also issued a security advisory for Indian nationals in Israel, urging them to remain on high alert.

“All Indian nationals in Israel are advised to stay vigilant and adhere to the safety protocols as advised by the Israeli authorities and Home Front Command,” the Embassy stated on X, sharing the link to the official Israeli safety resource (https://oref.org.il/eng).

The advisory stressed avoiding non-essential movement, staying close to designated safety shelters, and keeping in regular contact with the embassy for emergency support.

As the geopolitical crisis unfolds, Indian authorities and airlines continue to closely monitor the situation to ensure the safety of travelers and Indian citizens abroad.
