England Retain Winning XI for Second Test Against India at Edgbaston
London, July 1: England have named an unchanged playing XI for the second Test match against India, starting July 2 at Edgbaston. The hosts will continue with the same side that secured a five-wicket victory at Headingley, giving them a 1-0 lead in the ongoing five-match series.
Fast bowler Jofra Archer, who was recently recalled to England’s Test set-up for the first time since 2021, remains unavailable. According to British media reports, Archer missed Monday’s training session due to a family emergency and is expected to rejoin the squad on Tuesday.
The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) appears confident in the team’s winning momentum, with no changes made to the squad that performed strongly in the series opener.
England Playing XI: Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ollie Pope, Joe Root, Harry Brook, Ben Stokes (captain), Jamie Smith (wicket-keeper), Chris Woakes, Brydon Carse, Josh Tongue, Shoaib Bashir.
The second Test promises high-intensity action as India look to bounce back and level the series.
