Arhan, Ethan reach finals of under-14 boys event at Baale BPS Open 2024
Margao, May 2024 – Youngsters Arhan and Ethan stormed into the finals of the boys under-14 event of the ongoing Baale BPS Open 2024 in Margao, defeating Vivaan Agrawal and Vedant Naik in their semifinal encounters.
Vivaan Agrawal put up a tough fight against 12-year-old Arhan Gaunkar, a student of Sharada Mandir School in Miramar, winning the first set 4-1, before losing the second 3-4 and third 6-10. In the other semifinals in the boys under-14 event, Ethan de Ataide from Margao, who stands second in the all-Goa under-14 boys ranking, defeated Vedant Naik 4-2, 4-3(2).
Vidhi Naik also advanced to the finals of the girls under-18 event, defeating Avni Lotlikar in a one-sided encounter 4-1, 4-0, even as in another round match in the same category, Simran Bundela beat Tvisha Sardesai 4-0, 4-0, without losing a game.
In the boys under event, Shreyas Patil beat Punit Fadte 1-4, 4-3, 10-6, while in the men’s singles event, Mano Chhabra beat Siddharth Nunes 6-3, 7-5 and Nishad Shevde beat Punit Fadte 6-1, 6-1.
Nishad also paired up with Simran Bundela to reach the finals of the mixed doubles finals, defeating Joao Sousa/Sania Lotlikar 6-0, 6-1.
Supported by Baale Resort Goa and organised by the B.P.S. Sports Club, Margao, in association with the Goa State Tennis Association, the inaugural edition of the Baale BPS Open 2024, a state ranking tournament, got underway at Margao last week.
