A tourist was killed by lightning while running towards the car at Miramar beach.
Akhil Vijayan (35), a tourist from Kerala, was killed on the spot after being electrocuted by lightning on Panaji Miramar beach on Tuesday. His wife and friend fell unconscious. Panaji police have registered the case as natural death.
Akhil had come to Goa with his wife and friends. On Tuesday evening, seven to eight people came to Miramar beach for a walk. iinlcuded Akhil his wife, friends and children suddenly there was a sudden flash of lightning and thunderAs heavy rain started, all of them left for their car from the beach. As they were running, the lightning started to crackle. At the same time, Akhil, his wife and a friend suddenly collapsed on the shore, eyewitnesses said.
He was admitted to GMC in 108 ambulance as he was found unconscious. the doctor said that Akhil died after doing his post mortem examination. After a while his wife and friends regained consciousness. Akhil was first predicted to have died of a heart attack. But the post-mortem report on the body found that his body suffered from electric shock injuries. Accordingly, the Panaji police registered the case as natural death and handed over the body to his family for cremation.
