Necessary funds needed from central government for improvement of power supply in Calangute : MLA Michael lobo
Calangute: A Day after North Goa MP Shripad Naik was named as Union minister of State for power and renewable energy on Monday calangute MLA Michael lobo stressed on the need to improve power infrastructure in the coastal belt and pitched for a new power sub-station in Calangute.
Lobo was speaking to reporters after the felicitation program of Mrs. Lourdin D’costa a (Farmer) from calangute
“The electricity department has to shore up its infrastructure along the coastal belt. We badly need a new sub-station in Calangute. At the moment, we are drawing power from Candolim and Nagao power sub-station,” Lobo said
Speaking further lobo expressed happiness at the responsibility given to union minister Shripad naik by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
“Calangute MLA further said that Calangute people have had to suffer due to load shedding, which at time goes on for four to six hours.
“Running a 60-room hotel in Calangute on a generator for four hours is a costly affair” he said
He further said that the time has come that the power infrastructure be upgraded and coastal villages were given a better deal and expressed confidence that the newly elected MP from North Goa Lok Sabha will pay heed his demands .
