Road patchwork in progress in Panaji city.
PANAJI: Panaji roads were all dug up on the eve of monsoon on the pretext of providing flood free city to the dwellers, market shop -keepers and visitors but failed to provide on time and as such it created more potholes and trenches in the city and every road is craving for urgent attention from city fathers.
No doubt they did some patchwork to ward off the cries of the residents and road users by filling haphazardly as a result, the 2-wheeler riders and 4-wheeler riders suffer from lots of inconvenience. Four wheelers and 2-wheelers jump on the rough and unevenly filled roads in the city. There is always a fear lingering at the back of the mind of the 2-wheeler riders and 4-wheeler drivers that it may skid off the roads and bump into another vehicle running next to him/her or it may get punctured at any time and invite trouble. As one does not know in which direction it will skid or fall.
You may be aware that a couple days ago there was heavy lashing by the rain accompanied by the loud thunder and heavy lightning after the sunset and there was power snapping and breeze, and then the authorities took a decision to do some patch- work of at least washed out roads.
In the night, a mason and a labourer were seen actively filling the potholes, and trenches with cement around the Azad Maidan and like this some of the roads were receiving sympathetic consideration from the Corporation of City of Panaji to avoid public ire.
A shop -keeper who was rushing home after closing the shop stated that something is better than nothing a driver of car informed that they suffered a lot during potholes and now monsoons is over government (PWD) should take it very seriously and do the needful and stated Porvorim roads whether it is inside or outside Highways all are fantastic which were black topped during last Assembly elections. Why can’t Panaj is a capital city have such strong roads?
