BJP Govt failed to provide adequate public transport, it needs ‘tow service’ for failed ‘double engine’: LoP Yuri Alemao
Panaji: Attacking the State government over inadequate public transport in the state, the Leader of Opposition Yuri Alemao on Sunday stated that BJP will have to opt for ‘tow service’ for its ‘double engine’ as it has developed irreparable snag.
Reacting to the statement of Chief Minister Pramod Sawant that people should opt public transport to avoid accidents on roads, Alemao said “had the government provided adequate transport service, people would have preferred it. It has failed to bring change despite engaging private buses under ‘Mhaji Bus’ scheme”
“We don’t have adequate facilities and buses to run on routes across the state. Government is busy boasting fake achievements and has ignored public transport. It has failed to revamp Kadamba Transport Corporation and bring it in profits despites bringing electrical buses under its fleet,” Alemao stated.
He said that people are killed in road accidents due to the condition of roads. “Our roads are not safe for the two wheelers. There are thousands of potholes still waiting to get mended. Government is not focusing on this issue, but trying to divert people from this pressing issue,” Alemao said.
“Do people get bus service after 9 pm? How do people travel during the night? ‘Mhaji Bus’ scheme failed to cater proper service. Pramod Sawant should not do it for name sake. But he should take constructive steps to bring innovative ideas, so it can help industrial workers travelling for second and third shifts during night time,” he said.
Alemao said that the Chief Minister had promised to operate buses during night time, once the ‘Mhaji Bus’ scheme is started.
“This government does only events by launching programs, which defunct after inauguration. Same is the fate of Mhaji Bus scheme,” Alemao charged
