Local Leader Seeks Enhanced Security Measures Following Recent Assault Case

Calangute GOA: Calangute MLA Michael Lobo has sounded the alarm on the growing crime rate in the region, urging authorities to take immediate action to enhance security measures. This comes after a recent assault case in Calangute, which has left the tourist community shaken.

Calangute MLA Michael Lobo expressed concern over the rising crime rate in the region, particularly affecting tourists. Lobo emphasized the need for strict vigilance and enhanced security measures.

“The increase in criminal activities poses a significant threat to tourist safety and Goa’s reputation,” Lobo stated. “I urge the authorities to increase police presence, install CCTV cameras, and implement effective patrolling.”said Lobo

It maybe recalled that the calangute police on Monday evening had sealed a nightclub along Tito’s lane in Baga. The action came after a large number of locals from Baga and Calangute gathered at the Calangute police station demanding action against the nightclub owner and bouncers for allegedly assaulting two local youths on Saturday night. Police have also arrested three persons in this connection.

This incident is not an isolated one. Over the past year, Calangute has witnessed a surge in crime rates, with reports of theft, vandalism, and physical assaults. The local business community and tourists have expressed concerns about the deteriorating law and order situation.

“Tourism is Goa’s backbone, and we cannot afford to compromise on safety,” Lobo said. “and demanded for Increased police presence, especially at nigh he also demanded for Strict action against anti-social elements”
