CM Pays Tributes to Hutatma Bala Raya Mapari on 70th Balidan Divas, Launches ‘Bahujan Aawaz’
Assonora : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant paid heartfelt tributes to Hutatma Bala Raya Mapari on his 70th Balidan Divas at a solemn ceremony in Assonora. On this occasion, he also released the newspaper Bahujan Aawaz in the presence of WRD Minister Shri Subhash Shirodkar, Fisheries Minister Shri Nilkant Halarnkar, ZP Diksha Kanolkar, President of Goa Bhandari Samaj Shri Devanand Naik, and other dignitaries.
Bala Raya Mapari was the first freedom fighter to lay down his life during the armed struggle against Portuguese rule. Recognizing his supreme sacrifice, the Government of Goa has announced plans to build a memorial house and erect a Smarak in his honor to preserve his legacy for future generations.
Speaking at the event, CM Pramod Sawant emphasized the government’s commitment to preserving and protecting the memory of Goa’s valiant freedom fighters. “It is our duty to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice for the Liberation of Goa. We remain steadfast in our efforts to ensure that their legacy is remembered and cherished,” he stated.
As a mark of respect, the Chief Minister had the honor of felicitating the families and spouses of freedom fighters, acknowledging their contributions and sacrifices in the struggle for Goa’s independence. The event served as a poignant reminder of the state’s rich history and the courage of those who fought for its freedom.
