CM Pramod Sawant Meets Union Minister Piyush Goyal, Seeks Boost for Goa’s Agricultural Exports
New Delhi : Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant met with Union Minister for Commerce & Industry Shri Piyush Goyal in New Delhi to discuss measures for enhancing export support in Goa.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister specifically requested the establishment and operationalization of an APEDA (Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority) office in the state. He emphasized that such a step would significantly boost the export potential of Goa’s agricultural and processed food products, enabling local farmers and producers to access wider markets and increase their earnings.
Dr. Sawant highlighted the unique agricultural produce of Goa, including horticulture and spice crops, which hold high export value. He also discussed the need for improved infrastructure and support systems to streamline the export process.
Union Minister Goyal assured the Chief Minister of positive consideration and support from the Ministry to enhance Goa’s presence in global agricultural export markets.
The meeting marks a strategic move to strengthen Goa’s economy through export-led agricultural development.
