Enterprises Boost AI Budgets as Agentic AI Adoption Rises: Nasscom Report
Nearly 88% of global enterprises now have dedicated budgets for Artificial Intelligence (AI), with two-thirds spending over 15% of their tech budgets on AI projects, according to a new report by Nasscom. Titled ‘Enterprise Experiments with AI Agents – 2025 Global Trends’, the report signals a major shift from early generative AI trials to the development of intelligent, goal-oriented systems known as AI agents.
Sangeeta Gupta, Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer at Nasscom, said AI agents represent a critical evolution in enterprise AI, demanding changes in how work, intelligence, and autonomy are perceived. However, she stressed that responsible scaling requires data readiness, trust, and ongoing human oversight.
Based on inputs from over 100 companies across 8–9 regions and 10+ industries, the report reveals that 62% of firms are piloting AI agents for internal tasks like HR, IT operations, and finance, though only 31% use them for external functions like customer service. Notably, 88% of companies plan to budget for Agentic AI in 2025.
While only 46% are testing fully autonomous agents, most businesses (77%) are opting for a ‘human-in-the-loop’ model to ensure accountability and adaptability.
