Panaji Police Struggle Without Proper Shelter During Assembly Sessions
Panaji: Security personnel deployed on the Old Mandovi Bridge during the ongoing Assembly Session are facing severe hardships due to inadequate shelter. A temporary tarpaulin shed erected at the Panaji side offers little protection against Goa’s heavy rain, gusty winds, and scorching sun. The shelter lacks side covers, leaving personnel drenched as rain lashes from all directions. Even when trying to shift positions, they are still exposed to the elements.
Adding to the discomfort, there are not enough chairs, forcing officers both male and female to remain on their feet for long hours, from morning till late evening. Many female officers return home soaked and exhausted, with responsibilities of school- and college-going children awaiting them.
The plastic tarpaulin fails to serve its basic purpose of shielding the police from torrential rains and heat. Authorities must urgently address this situation to ensure better working conditions and maintain morale among the hardworking police force during such crucial public duties.
