Rajesh Faldessai all praise for WRD minister.
PANAJI: Cumbajrua MLA Rajesh Faldesai on Wednesday praised Water Resources Minister Subhash Shirodkar for his proactiveness in dealing with issues plaguing his constituency especially that of building and rebuilding the bands in his constituency.
Speaking during the discussion on demands for grants to the Water Resources Department, Faldessai, however, said that the bunds being rebuilt especially in the islands quickly give way.
“50% of my constituency consists of islands. Yes, the department has repaired the bunds. In the old days our elders used to build the bunds with silt and much and yet they used to last 100s of years. However, now with the entry of the contractors I do not know what piling they are doing, but the bunds are giving away soon,”
“He has given good bundhs so far. But now the contractors are building but they are breaking soon,” Faldessai said, requesting the minister to look into the issue of repair of bunds in his constituency.
Faldessai also praised the minister for taking up the work of building six check dams in the state of Goa which he said would help in storing rainwater.
“We are getting so much rain in the rainy season, but it all gushes away to the sea. I am happy that this work on the check dams will help in water security and hugely benefit the farmers and the farming community in the state,” Faldessai.
