Calangute Villagers Hold Candlelight Rally on Derogatory Remarks against Saint francis Xavier 

Calangute, Goa, 8 th October – In a powerful display of unity and devotion, hundreds of villagers from Calangute gathered for a peaceful candlelight rally to condemn the derogatory remarks made by Subash Velingkar against Saint Francis Xavier.

The rally, organized by local community groups and the saint alex churche, began at the Calangute Church and proceeded through the calangute police station with participants holding candles and banners expressing their outrage and disappointment.

“We will not tolerate any disrespect towards our beloved Saint Francis Xavier,” said Fr Joevito dcosta priest of Alex church Calangute said . “His legacy is a cherished part of our heritage, and we will protect it at all costs.”

“Subash Velingkar’s remarks are unacceptable and hurtful,” added , another local resident walter Lobo . ”

Subash Velingkar, a prominent figure in Goa, sparked outrage after making derogatory remarks about Saint Francis Xavier, a revered figure in Goan history and culture. The comments were widely condemned by community leaders, clergy, and citizens.

A sizable police contingent was deployed to ensure the rally remained peaceful. Authorities have assured that necessary action will be taken against those responsible for the derogatory remarks.

The villagers have demanded a formal apology from Subash Velingkar and action from authorities to prevent similar incidents in the future.
