Panaji: Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, in the presence of Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, announced significant achievements and decisions under the Directorate of Social Welfare, reinforcing the government’s commitment to social development and technological advancements in the state.

Goa Declared Free from Manual Scavenging

Goa has become the first state in the country to implement 100% mechanized scavenging, eliminating manual scavenging entirely. The government has also extended monetary assistance and benefits to the families of sanitation workers who lost their lives due to manual scavenging, ensuring their welfare and support.

Financial Assistance to ‘Dilasa’ Under Palliative Care Center Scheme

In a move to strengthen senior citizen care, the state has provided financial assistance and a certificate to ‘Dilasa’ under the Palliative Care Center Scheme. This initiative supports registered organizations in running homes for the elderly suffering from chronic and debilitating diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.

Special Train for Mahakumbh Under Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Scheme

Fulfilling its promise to facilitate religious travel, the government has announced a special train from Goa to Mahakumbh, Prayagraj, under the Mukhyamantri Dev Darshan Scheme. This initiative aims to provide devotees with an opportunity to participate in the grand religious gathering.

CM Sawant reiterated that the Government of Goa remains steadfast in its commitment to the social welfare of the people through good governance and the adoption of innovative technologies for a better and inclusive future.
