Disaster Management Mock Exercise Conducted at Panaji Ferry Terminal Jetty
Panaji: In an effort to enhance disaster preparedness and response, the Office of the District Collector of North Goa, in collaboration with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), conducted a disaster management mock exercise at the Panaji Ferry Terminal Jetty.
The exercise aimed to simulate real-life disaster scenarios, testing the response, coordination, and efficiency of various stakeholders, including emergency services, government agencies, and local authorities. The drill was designed to identify gaps and areas for improvement in disaster response mechanisms.

The NDRF played a crucial role in the exercise, providing expert guidance on disaster management. The team demonstrated search and rescue operations, first aid administration, and evacuation procedures, showcasing their preparedness for handling emergencies.
Speaking on the occasion, the District Collector of North Goa emphasized the importance of disaster preparedness, stating that such exercises are crucial to ensuring the safety and well-being of citizens during unforeseen calamities.
Officials from the Goa State Disaster Management Authority were present to observe the drill. They praised the coordination and response of the participating teams and acknowledged that the exercise would help improve disaster management capabilities across the state.
The successful execution of this mock exercise reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening disaster preparedness and response strategies. It also serves as a reminder of the need for coordinated efforts to mitigate the impact of natural disasters.
