Dispute over car parking, car vandalized at Peddem
Mapusa : A resident of Peddem, Mapusa, Mr. Sairam Bhat, has filed a police complaint against Mr. Shreyas Kalangutkar. The complaint alleges that Mr. Shreyas vandalized Mr. Bhat’s vehicle (GA03AF4572) by pelting stones, causing significant damage.
According to Mr. Bhat’s statement to the police, the accused had been objecting to his car being parked in front of his father’s shop and had previously threatened him over the matter. The latest altercation reportedly occurred on January 19, 2025, when Mr. Shreyas warned him about parking in the disputed spot.
On the night of February 19, around 1:30 AM, Mr. Bhat claims he heard the sound of breaking glass from his residence. Upon looking from his balcony, he saw the accused allegedly holding a stone and striking his car, damaging the rear windshield. When confronted, Mr. Shreyas reportedly fled the scene.
Mr. Bhat captured photographs and a video of the damage, estimating the cost of repairs at over ₹ 25,000. He has requested the police to verify the accused’s mobile location data to confirm his presence at the crime scene.
Disputes arising over trivial matters can end a person’s life. A recent example is that of former MLA Lavu Mamledar. He lost his life over a minor issue. The police should take note of this and properly counsel the concerned youth to ensure that he does not commit such crimes again.
The Mapusa Police have registered the complaint and are investigating the matter.
