Goa Speeds Up Solar Push: CM Inaugurates Key Workshop
Panaji: In a significant step towards promoting renewable energy, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant inaugurated the “Acceleration of Solarisation in Goa” workshop, aimed at fast-tracking the state’s transition to solar power. The event was organized by the Swaniti Initiative and brought together key policymakers, stakeholders, and experts to deliberate on sustainable energy strategies.
Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy, Shri Shripad Naik, graced the occasion, along with several prominent state ministers including Tourism Minister Shri Rohan Khaunte, Social Welfare Minister Shri Subhash Phal Dessai, and Fisheries Minister Shri Nilkant Halarnkar.
Also in attendance were Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade, Mayem MLA Shri Premendra Vishnu Shet, Margao MLA Shri Digambar Kamat, and Trustee of the Swaniti Initiative, Smt Uma Bhattacharya.
The workshop focused on reducing Goa’s reliance on non-renewable energy sources and promoting sustainable development through solar energy adoption. Speaking at the event, Dr. Sawant highlighted the critical role of solar energy in ensuring a cleaner and greener future for the state. He called for collaborative efforts from government departments, private stakeholders, and citizens to make Goa a model for renewable energy in India.
The initiative is expected to pave the way for increased investment in solar infrastructure, policy support, and community participation across Goa.
