Congress Delegation Submits Memorandum to River Navigation Dept. Seeking More Ferry Services
Panaji: A delegation from the Indian National Congress – North Goa, led by District President Virendra Shirodkar, submitted a memorandum to the Director of the River Navigation Department, Betim, requesting an increase in ferry services between Betim and Panjim.
The demand comes in response to the closure of the Old Mandovi Bridge, which has significantly impacted daily commuters. The delegation included General Secretary Adv. Archit Naik, Goa Pradesh Youth Congress Vice President Vivek D’Silva, Atul Naique, and other office bearers, who emphasized the urgent need for additional ferry trips to ease the inconvenience faced by the public.
Speaking to the media, Virendra Shirodkar stated, “The closure of the Old Mandovi Bridge has caused immense hardship to commuters, especially office-goers, students, and daily wage workers. We urge the government to immediately increase the number of ferry services to ensure smooth transportation.”

The Congress leaders stressed that the existing ferry services are insufficient, leading to long waiting times and overcrowding. They urged the authorities to take prompt action to prevent further inconvenience to the people of North Goa.
The Director of the River Navigation Department assured the delegation that the concerns raised would be reviewed, and steps would be taken to address the issue at the earliest.
